During Camp National Association of Women in Construction 2022, Taryn, who also serves as the vice president of the NAWIC Austin Chapter and co-chair of the camp’s committee, opened youthful eyes to construction as a viable industry for women in the Austin community. Do good, feel good! Over the last decade, Balfour Beatty has partnered with Atlanta Mission to end homelessness by volunteering our time and service. This week, we prepped and served lunch at The Shepherd's Inn as part of this mission, and it was an honor serving warm, healthy meals to those who need it most!

As the Oak Hill Parkway team builds a better way to travel along US 290, Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) design-build contractor Colorado River Constructors remains committed to giving back to the local community during construction. As part of that commitment, the project team held its first Oak Hill Community Cleanup in conjunction with Keep Austin Beautiful Day on Saturday, April 9.

Our Network of Black Leaders and Executives (NOBLE) employee affinity group made the holidays special for two local families through the Genesis Women's Shelter & Support Holiday Program. Genesis Women’s Shelter, located in Dallas, provides safety, shelter and support for women who have experienced domestic violence and raises awareness regarding the cause, prevalence and impact. A huge shout-out to NOBLE for helping shed light on this important topic and supporting this worthy cause! #BalfourBeattyCares #BeTheBest

Feeling the need for speed, our #HSWHTC team completed the 40th anniversary 199-mile Hood & Portland To Coast Relays (Official Page) in 32 hours. The 12-person, top fundraising team raised over $16K for Providence Cancer Institute - Oregon! High five to our team and sponsors helping to #finishcancer!

Wearing pink never looked so good! In our 10th Annual Pink Out Day, supporting the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, our project teams across Raleigh helped raised $36,000 for this incredible organization. Great minds certainly do think alike! Our Mid-Atlantic and California teams recently participated in builds for the same organization, Habitat for Humanity, and even better, both were women builds! Our Mid-Atlantic team partnered with Habitat for Humanity Metro Maryland to begin converting a home into a duplex that, once complete, will go to a single mother with three children, all under the age of ten. That same day, our California team worked with San Diego Habitat for Humanity to assemble and decorate a wooden playhouse, which will go to a local family in need. Balfour Beatty’s Savannah team put their building skills to the test to make a wish come true for a deserving Brooklet, Georgia family this week! Continuing our partnership with Make-A-Wish Georgia, our Savannah team transformed the family’s pool area into a safe and accessible space for their daughter. We are grateful for Guerry Lumber and Turf Services, Inc, as well as our generous team members who donated their time, to make this wish come true!

The best day, by PAR! It was a summer celebration for the 20th anniversary of Balfour Beatty’s annual golf tournament in Seattle! We gathered together with our clients and trade partners for a fun day of friendly play and festive attire in support of MultiCare Foundations, donating $50,000 to the charity. Balfour Beatty in the US and UK teamed up with Bridges to Prosperity, whose mission is to connect impoverished and isolated communities to essential supplies and infrastructure. Balfour Beatty US has completed five bridges with this program since 2017 in both South America and Africa. This year, our US team completed a suspension bridge over the Musogoro River in Matyazo, Rwanda.

Ronald McDonald House

SAN DIEGO

Balfour Beatty teammates filled “Big Red Shoes” this June. Each year, teams take to the streets to raise money in support of the Ronald McDonald House Charity, an organization that provides comfort, care and support for families with sick children when its needed most. This year, teams occupied 3 corners in San Diego with 15 volunteers and raised more than $3,000! This charity is near and dear to the Balfour Beatty family and we are already looking forward to next year's event!

Run, Walk, and Ride for a cause! The 31st annual Dino Dash was one for the books with more than $350 thousand dollars raised for the Tustin Public Schools Foundation. Each year, this event provides funding for Tustin Unified School District school programs and scholarships that take place throughout the year and benefit thousands of students. Our Caltrain project team in San Mateo supports the local Society of Saint Vincent De Paul's annual Thanksgiving dinner for the homeless by hosting a food drive.

The beginning of a new tradition – Balfour Beatty US celebrated the first annual #GreenAppleDayofService for NATOMAS UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT. Fifty volunteers, comprised of students, teachers, parents, trade partners, and community members joined together to create an outdoor learning classroom for the students of H. Balfour Beatty's Mid-Atlantic Spirit! and SOMOS affinity group participated in sorting food donations, packing food for distribution and helped with assorted miscellaneous tasks for the Food for Others Organization. Since 1995, Food for Others provides an important safety net for those needing food when emergencies strike and to supplement their inadequate food supplies.

Balfour Beatty is proud to be the first contractor to donate an entire home to Habitat for Humanity in the Broward County community. The Broward County Convention Center and Hotel project team (along with their families) led by Relentless Ally, Napoleon Perez, are providing end-to-end turn key services and manpower for this home.

The funds raised from the family friendly annual event, organized by the Precast Concrete Manufacturers Association (PCMA), benefit the Acid Maltase Deficiency Association (AMDA), an organization formed in 1995 to assist in funding research and promote public awareness. The disease is one of 49 rare genetic disorders known as lysosomal storage diseases or LSDs.

Jacksonville

As a community partnership initiative, the MOSH (Museum of Science and History) in Jacksonville developed the “Taking STEM into STEAM” education program to help inspire kids to foster a love of lifelong learning. The event, supporting local schools, helps students explore innovation, art, and science to solve problems, learn about the environment and bring their artistic creations to life. Balfour Beatty, which built the MOSH in 1988, donated 40 3D modeling pens to help support the curriculum, and all the 3D reptile art work created by the students was displayed at MOSH this summer. https://balfourbeattyus.com/our-teams/jacksonville/community-involvement
