Fun with a Purpose
From coast-to-coast our teammates took opportunities throughout the year to volunteer at local organizations, raise money and supplies for numerous causes and make wishes come true. As a core part of our people-first culture, our teams are dedicated to making a positive difference in the places where we work and live.
Building New
Futures Innovatively
Balfour Beatty has partnered with technology firms to assist in the development of new construction software. These technologies continue to advance business initiatives, streamline operations and enhance services to our clients. The development
of DESTINI Estimator for the fast-paced and complex environment of preconstruction exemplifies our commitment to accelerating technology
in construction.
Driving Inclusivity
Our highly anticipated, second Together Allies Summit facilitated vital conversations that will pave the way for continued initiatives. To create a more equitable and inclusive culture, we maintain five thriving employee affinity groups, create opportunities for minority businesses and actively recruit and partner with veterans. Together, we are transforming our industry.
Our Zero Harm Way of Life
Zero Harm is a way of life and a personal call to action for all Balfour Beatty teammates across the nation. This year our Civils Southwest team received national recognition from the Associated General Contractors for excellent safety performance on highway projects, achieving the National AGC Safety Award for the 24th time in 26 years.
Water: A Most
Vital Resource
In addition to providing a sustainable water supply to the surrounding area, the Sterling Natural Resource Center project will recover habitat area for fish native to the region. The joint project between our Civils and Buildings units in Highland, California topped out
this summer.
Standing Up to

The participants completed a 199-mile relay spanning 32 total hours from Mt. Hood to Seaside, Oregon.

Caltrain Electrification
California – The 52-mile Caltrain Electrification design-build project stretches the Caltrain corridor between San Francisco and San Jose. When complete, commuters will enjoy improved capacity, service and reliability of the transit system. The sustainable project will make the current diesel trains obsolete while ushering in the future of high-speed rail in California.
Strickland Middle School
Texas - The Chester O. Strickland Middle School project featured a complete renovation of the existing 145,019-square-foot facility, as well as a 61,967-square-foot addition and storm shelter. Denton ISD is proud of its vibrant fine arts program, and this project preserved the existing performing arts center in the heart of the historic campus. The original basement was also converted into a striking 2.5-story library, which features a clerestory "pop-up" as half of the roof. Balfour Beatty has been a valued partner to Denton ISD since 1999.
Harkers Island
North Carolina – The Harkers Island project will replace two 50-year-old bridges and construct a single, new bridge roughly 3,200 feet in length with a 45-foot navigational clearance. The new bridge will aim to increase capacity, reduce congestion and delays for marine vessels and vehicular traffic.
University of North Carolina Wilmington Student Village
North Carolina – Balfour Beatty’s Campus Solutions and US Buildings operations successfully delivered phase two of the University of North Carolina Wilmington’s (UNCW) Student Village. The project included the construction of 776 additional beds and a student success center on the 409,722-square-foot development. Balfour Beatty’s long-standing partnership with UNCW has delivered projects including its on-campus, 1000-space parking garage, the Allied Health Building, Dobo Hall and the first phase of the Student Village housing project.
Northeast Water
Purification Plant
Texas – The Houston Northeast Water Purification Plant, one of the largest progressive design-build projects in the U.S., will supply 320 million gallons per day (MGD) of high-quality drinking water to citizens within the greater Houston area. This year, in partnership with the Houston Waterworks team, we celebrated a safety milestone of surpassing five million hours worked without a lost time incident since the project began in 2017.
St. Michael Medical Center
Washington – Early this year, our Seattle team completed the St. Michael Medical Center in Silverdale which is now the most energy-efficient hospital in Washington State using 60% less energy than a traditional hospital. The 790,000-square-foot premier medical center includes features such as a Level III trauma center, a patient care tower, 24-hour care and a rooftop helipad.

Helping Provide
a Safe Place
This year, our Georgia team was proud to complete
the Atlanta Mission’s Restoration House, the first
low-barrier day shelter designed to serve Atlanta-area women and children battling homelessness. The project was funded by donations to build a new shelter that will provide day services for more than 4,500 individuals in need.
A Tree for Every Employee
On Arbor Day, Balfour Beatty committed $6,000 to benefit the Arbor Day Foundation’s Community Tree Recovery program, which replenishes trees that have been ravaged by natural disasters. Partnering with One Tree Planted, we enabled 4,500 trees to be planted, representing one tree per Balfour Beatty team member. This donation reflects our enduring commitment to leaving a positive legacy within the communities where we privileged to live and build.
